My name is Megan Parker, a Southampton and London-based photographer, I am a recent graduate of London College of Communication where I studied Photojournalism and Documentary Photography, where I learnt to turn short moments into meaningful stories.
My photography journey began in the height of the pandemic, it was a way for me to stay grounded and take care of my mental health amidst the uncertainty of lockdown. Back then I began to photograph rural landscapes and quiet scenes, in an attempt to find a quiet contrast to the upheaval that surrounded me.

My work has since evolved into a vibrant, documentary-based practice. Studying Photojournalism and Documentary Photography at LCC has allowed me to immerse myself in the complexities of theory, ethics, law, and studied a range of practices and methods of storytelling. This academic grounding, paired with my evolving practice and creative vision, has transformed my photography into a celebration of the human presence - where people, their stories and moments can take centre stage.
My journey in activism photography is fueled by an enduring commitment to spotlight the unseen narratives that shape our world. I believe that every photograph is an opportunity—a moment that can provoke thought, stir empathy, and instigate action. In my work, I strive to capture not just images but the raw emotions, resilience, and untold stories of marginalized communities. Each shot is a testament to the power of visual storytelling as a catalyst for social change.
Photography for me is a profound act of resistance. It’s about challenging the status quo and questioning the structures that perpetuate injustice. When I set out with my camera, I’m not simply documenting events—I’m engaging in an ongoing dialogue with society, amplifying voices that are often drowned out by mainstream narratives. Whether it’s through a powerful portrait, a candid street scene, or an evocative protest capture, I aim to translate the pulse of activism into visuals that resonate and ignite conversations.
Beyond the lens, my activism is rooted in a broader commitment to social justice. I advocate for change by participating in and organizing initiatives that promote equity, human rights, and systemic reform. This dual focus—of creating compelling images and mobilizing community action—embodies my belief that art and activism are inseparable. Every project I undertake is a reminder that, even in the face of adversity, creative expression holds the potential to reshape our collective future.
Together, the camera and the campaign create a powerful synergy, where storytelling transcends aesthetics and becomes a force for real-world transformation. Thank you for joining me on this journey towards a more informed, empathetic, and just society.
